BERNA GENCALP

Berna Gençalp who received the Best Documentary Award at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival with her feature documentary film Kim Mihri (Who is Mihri), holds BA and MA degrees in Film and Television. She has attended international workshops on scriptwriting at Mediterranean Film Institute in Greece and Katapult in Hungary. With her fiction script “The Wig Story”, she was invited to Berlin Film Festival Talent Campus in 2007. She is part of the creative team of Canlandıranlar International Film Festival since 2013. She has participated as a jury member at the Istanbul Film Festival, Adana Film Festival and Ankara Film Festival.
Her recent documentary is a biography about the national women volleyball team star, Hande Baladın. In 2104, she presented a paper with the title “Construction of the Self in Kerime Nadir and Agatha Christie: I am not your cliché” at the international symposium, entitled “Women’s Lives: Auto/biography, Life Narratives, Myths and Historiography”. Her poetry appeared in distinguished literary journals. Berna Gençalp who is based in Istanbul, currently works on her new documentary, fiction and experimental film projects.
