ANGELIKA HERTA

Born in Austria in 1982, Angelika Herta is a Cologne-based filmmaker and video artist whose work combines documentary, essay film, and visual art. Her films have screened at international festivals and exhibitions, reflecting a strong interest in language, perception, and social realities. While studying at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, her short film Der beste Weg received major award nominations.
A study period in Cuba profoundly influenced her artistic perspective on global narratives and power structures. She holds an MA in Comparative Literature from the University of Vienna and works across film, television, and audio description. Angelika is a mother of a daughter, a personal dimension that grounds her practice in care, attentiveness, and lived experience.
