JON KAUFFMAN

Writer, Director

Jon Kauffman is an award-winning filmmaker whose films have played at festivals throughout the United States, including Tribeca.

Jon received his M.F.A. from Columbia University and his B.A. from Occidental College. In addition, Jon served as an apprentice and assistant to Darren Aronofsky for two years and on two films: THE WRESTLER & BLACK SWAN.

In 2016, Jon was selected for IFP’s Narrative Labs for his debut feature, HEARTLOCK (released theatrically & online domestically in 2019), which The Los Angeles Times called "lean, stylish and confidently crafted.” The film has also secured select international distribution.

Currently, Jon is developing his second feature, as well as a TV series he created (selected for IFP Week's Project Forum and Sundance Episodic Labs finalist).

Dedicated to unconventional narratives set in hole-and-corner worlds, Jon's quest for authentic, personal storytelling has led him from African diamond mines, to Hasidic butcheries, to state penitentiaries, to the inner-Everglades.
