Fall season applications are now closed, but if you would like more information or to visit a chapter in the fall, feel free to email us at contact@thefilmshop.org

Our spring season will begin in February 2018.

Before you apply, please note:

  • We ask that you be actively working on a project you’d like to workshop with the group. (Questions about what this means? See the Current Work section of the application below, or read more here.)
  • Dues for the season are $175. Financial aid is available and can be requested below.
  • For the second round of the application process, strong applicants may be asked to speak with a current Filmshop member, either at our pre-season open house, or via a phone or Skype call.
  • Filmshop members are expected to attend 75% (12 of 16) of their chapter's meetings. Meetings take place on weeknights, 7:30 to 10:00.

We look forward to learning more about you!

What is your experience in film / video? As part of this application, we'd like to see some work samples. Please provide links to your professional or personal work online. You may also provide a screenplay sample. Please send any writing samples as an attachment to contact@thefilmshop.org with your first and last name in the subject heading.
What project do you plan to workshop with the group?
What do you hope to accomplish by workshopping this project/how can this project benefit from constructive feedback?
Where do you see yourself in the next 2 to 5 years?
What skills, equipment, or resources would you be willing to share with the collective? Would you be able to give workshops or educational talks on any specific subjects?
Workshop participants are expected to attend 75% of weekly meetings. Do you foresee any problems meeting this requirement? If so, please elaborate.
Workshop dues are $175 for the season, but we don't want concerns about money to keep you from applying. If you're unemployed or underemployed (we’ve all been there), we can offer a few slots at a discount. Priority is given to artists from communities that are underrepresented in the industry. If you are interested in applying for discounted fees, please let us know here.
