HARUKA MOTOHASHI

Director, Editor, Colorist

Haruka Motohashi is an award-winning documentary filmmaker. She also works as a colorist and an editor, based in New York City. Born in Tokyo.

Her documentaries have been screened at numerous Film Festivals: her short film “Back Home” was screened at DOC NYC 2019, won the best documentary at Big Muddy Film Festival (IL) 2018, have been picked up by a French distributor, and will be aired in 2023.

She served as jury for the 14th the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards in 2023; she was excited to watch films from the genre of the Documentaries and Reports.

Haruka’s documentaries interweave intimate, personal, and cultural memories with deeply artistic visuals, reflecting on her background in visual art practice.

Currently she is working on a documentary utilizing 35mm film images and digital camera together that echoes with the feeling of nostalgia for her hometown Tokyo.

She holds a MFA in film from City college of New York and a BFA in fine arts from the School of the Art institute of Chicago.
