Everton Melo is a Brazilian filmmaker, producer, and art curator based between New York City and Recife. In 2021, Everton received his BFA in Film and Media at Southern Methodist University along with the Nash Parsley Memorial Award for outstanding creative achievement. Also, in 2021, Everton received the SMU Engaged Learning Office Fellowship. In 2022 Everton received the Questlove/iHeart Media Scholarship for the Summer Career Development Edu Program from the Gotham Film & Media Institute in Brooklyn. In 2023 Everton was accepted into the Fall Filmshop Collaborative Creative Program in Brooklyn.

Through the dual lenses of danger and desire, Everton's filmography explores the themes of the queer diaspora, social justice, and the human fascination for escapism versus reality. Everton’s films have been screened in worldwide film festivals, museums, and art shows, such as Vienna Porn Film Festival (Austria), Reel out International Queer Film Festival in Kingston (Canada), Dallas Meadows Museum (USA), Millenium Film workshop in Brooklyn (USA), Recifest in Recife (Brazil), and Oslo Fusion Film Festival (Norway). Everton is currently developing a new short film called Bariloche and his feature debut film Cammers.
