Emma Fidel is a filmmaker and journalist based in Brooklyn. She was the U.S. field producer for the HBO documentary IN THE SAME BREATH (Sundance 2021, Peabody Award) and was the co-producer for the Netflix Original documentary TAKE YOUR PILLS: XANAX and The New York Times Critic's Pick ONCE UPON A TIME IN UGANDA (DOC NYC 2021 Grand Jury Prize Winner). Emma is in post-production on her feature directing debut, QUEEN OF NEW YORK, a comedic documentary about a drag queen running for City Council.
Emma previously worked as an award-winning director/producer at VICE News for four years, telling stories about politics and policy, gender, and climate change. She has also produced for The New York Times, Vogue, Teen Vogue, Cosmo, and GQ, and has reported for Bloomberg News and the Associated Press.
