Writer, Director, Editor
Anika Benkov comes to filmmaking from a variety of different angles (pun intended). She has a background in documentary film, directing and editing shorts on issues ranging from labor organizing at Walmart, to the history of immigration in Barcelona.
She’s also done a number of video campaigns for groups such as NMASS (National Mobilization Against Sweatshops), SWS (Student Worker Solidarity), and CDCJ (Columbia Divest for Climate Justice). On the narrative side, she received a BA in creative fiction from Columbia University, and has written and directed several plays for staging at festivals throughout NYC.
As of late she's been writing mostly narrative shorts, and is currently working on her first feature length narrative film. She's very excited to be a part of Filmshop.
