Swati Sharma is a screenwriter based in Los Angeles, California. At 17, Swati immigrated to the US from Jaipur, India to pursue a B.F.A. in Screenwriting from the School Of Visual Arts, New York.

Through her work, Swati is committed to writing a new generation of South Asian protagonists who navigate rejecting regressive cultural norms without completely abandoning the culture that birthed them. Her work explores mental health, generational trauma, complicated relationships, sexuality, and immigration - so you know, the fun stuff! Swati was a finalist for the Disney Entertainment Television’s Writing Program 2025.

She has been a mentee in the 2024-25 Athena Film Festival Writers Lab and is currently a finalist for AMC Networks Athena Emerging Writers Fellowship. She was a mentee for the 2023-24 Rickshaw Film Foundation’s Writers Lab and a semi-finalist for the TRIBE Mentorship Program 2025.

Swati has been a Writers’ Assistant and Writer for Brat TV’s web series. She has written for the True Crime Podcast ‘What Happened With Jackie Flores?’ and produced ‘Anna’s Guide’, the podcast. Her poetry has been featured in “Feminists Don’t Wear Pink and Other Lies’ published by Penguin Random House UK. In her free time, she volunteers weekly at her local cat shelter, enjoys boxing, tracking astrological transits, and pestering her friends to go to karaoke with her on the weekends.
