Synopsis
Set in the heart of suburbia, The EffYou 50s follows a tight-knit group of midlife women who are done being told to fade quietly into the background. Confronting the pressures of aging with humor, heart, and zero apologies, they challenge outdated expectations and redefine what it means to thrive after 50. With deep friendship as their anchor and badassery as their mantra, they show that reinvention doesn't have an age limit and midlife isn’t a crisis, it’s a power move.

Trish Appello, Executive Producer of the hybrid comedic series The EffYou 50s, boldly declared, “I can thrive at 55.” That declaration marked the beginning of her journey into the independent film and episodic world, where she discovered her professional, artistic, and collaborative passion. With her children now independent, it was finally “mommy’s turn.”
Recognizing the importance of education and hands-on experience, Trish enrolled in the UCLA Extension Independent Film Producing Certificate Program while immersing herself in the realities of on-set production. Determined to learn every aspect of the business, she worked her way up from Production Assistant to Producer on independent productions. She also absorbed invaluable knowledge while working on major streamer and network productions, including the TV shows Billions, Law & Order: SVU, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and Orange Is the New Black, where she landed a recurring background role in Cell Block D during Season 6. She even appeared dancing in her pajamas in the viral dance craze video “The Floss,” all in her late 50s.
As Trish gained gray hair, she also gained confidence and clarity. Her journey through aging, reinvention, and menopause inspired her to finally tell the story that had lived inside her for decades. Trish is living the creative life that she didn't have the confidence or courage to live in her twenties, when women were expected to be practical, not passionate. The EffYou 50s celebrates women over 50 embracing passion, creativity, and authenticity, proving there is absolutely no expiration date on living your dream.
