Jillian Cantwell is an award-winning writer/director and multidisciplinary creator drawn to the hilariously dark and deliciously weird. Her work blends offbeat comedy with unsettling edges, a sensibility shaped by growing up in rural Nevada, where wide-open landscapes, long stretches of boredom, and an overactive imagination made strange stories feel inevitable.
Her short films have screened at festivals across North America and Europe, earning honors including Best Short Short at Rock the Shorts (LA), Outstanding Comedy at The Art of Brooklyn, and Best Short at The Lighthouse Film Festival. Her independently released vertical short GRETEL—a bold fairytale retelling—has garnered over 60,000 views across platforms.
Jillian began her career on set as a food stylist, on productions for Food Network, HBO, AMC, Disney, and more. When she’s not writing something twisted or funny, she’s likely styling your favorite food, taking long walks, or watching horror movies.
