Director, Cinematographer, Colorist
Joseph Overbey is a Brooklyn based photographer, filmmaker and motion picture colorist. Overbey's work is informed and inspired by the Humanistic Documentary Style, the New American Color Formalist movement of the 1970's and Surrealism in modern popular cinema (especially science fiction).
Overbey is currently working on his first documentary short, "The Spirit of Japan", which chronicles the work and daily life of a family running a small shochu distillery in Southern Japan.
Interests outside the world of image making include; paddle boarding, distilling whiskey, Izakaya hopping and good natured haggling at the local farmers' market.
